Tom has served as an arbitrator since 1990. He handles matters with careful attention to the governing rules, the parties’ right to be heard, efficient case management, and clear decision-making.

He serves or has served on respected arbitration and dispute-resolution panels, including the American Arbitration Association, FINRA, CPR and other domestic and international organizations.

Tom was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1977 and has substantial experience in litigation, mediation, and arbitration. His legal work has included personal-injury, commercial and business disputes, medical malpractice, products liability, premises liability, construction matters, property damage, and contract cases.

His dispute-resolution qualifications include:

  • Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators
  • American Arbitration Association neutral
  • FINRA public arbitrator
  • CPR Panel of Distinguished Neutrals
  • Circuit Court of Cook County approved mediator and arbitrator

Teaching and Training

Tom is an Adjunct Instructor in Mediation Skills at Northwestern University’s School of Professional Studies and an Adjunct Professor teaching Client Counseling at Loyola University Chicago School of Law.

He has trained lawyers, law students, mediators, and other professionals in the United States and internationally. His teaching experience strengthens his ability to explain complex issues, manage difficult conversations, and create a fair and constructive process.
